Carrington Parish Council serving the village of Carrington in the Borough of Trafford.

Carrington is noted among Latin enthusiasts (the language, not the music) as the birthplace of Bishop John Rider in 1562, compiler of Latin-English and English-Latin dictionaries.

The original site of the now-demolished Carrington Hall is something of an historical mystery – nobody can quite pin it down. For many years the local gentry, the Earls of Stamford, were landlords of the area until late in the 19th century when the Manchester Corporation acquired a large chunk of Carrington as a nursery for the city’s parks.

At the start of the 21st century, the park Carrington is best known for is its business Park, an initiative designed to be a ‘seed bed’ for new and high technology industries.
